Soul's unique sound can be described as hip-hop with an edge of street gospel, rapped with the feeling of a blues singer pouring out matters of the heart. There is something in Soul's music that is familiar, yet completely new. As the producer, Soul blends guitars, beats, keys, and jazz /funk colored samples. Soul the lyricist moves from the poetic to the raw, telling stories that are more in the vein of urban folklore than street bravado. This original mixture of musical and lyrical elements gives birth to a new sound that transcends the boundaries of traditional hip-hop altogether, creating music that Soul likes to call, "everyday music for everyday people."

A native of Oakland, California, Soul benefited from growing up in the culturally diverse Bay Area. Living in a place known for its love of the arts and eclectic music scene, Soul was introduced to music from many traditions. His musical influences range from Motown, Jimmy Hendrix, Miles Davis, to some of today's best rap lyricists. His appreciation for jazz drew him to rap with San Francisco jazz/funk band Modus. Soul was also drawn to collaborate in the studio with 5Ndime, an up -and -coming Oakland rap group that caught his ear with their definitive street sound. Though Soul enjoyed collaborating on projects, he was eager to establish his own voice as a solo artist. On his first solo release, A World Without End, Soul shines as a talented writer, rapper, arranger and producer, introducing the world to his own infectious, original sound.

In some ways Soul's debut release, A World Without End, suggests a 70's soul release with its warm tones, rhythmic beat and intimate storytelling. Soul, like legendary storytellers before him, connects with the listener on a very personal level by sharing his struggles, ambitions, and lessons learned. The album's songs reflect his many moods-some somber, some playful, some introspective. Soul experiments with a variety of musical styles using live arrangements paired with electronic beats and samples to create a rich, eclectic album that honors the past, while embracing the future.
