Greetings party people!
It's been an amazing week to say the least! I've been offered two performance gigs here in the Bay Area- both are in Oakland to be exact. The first will be a part of the First Friday's Oakland Art Murmur which takes place on June 1st and the other is at DeFremery park on June 17th as a part of the Juneteenth Festival there. As I get more details I will be sure to share it with y'all!!

The other coolness that I had to share your way is that I've been featured amongst a few other talented Bay Area musicians and artists in Headnodic's Live From Headnodic's video blog. As some of you know Headnodic produced some of the songs off of my latest record, and is an extremely talented dude! And to top it off I got a chance to perform on this video blog with Woodstock on a beat he did as a tribute to the late great poet/singer Gil Scott Heron!! Please check it out below:

I had every intention of sharing details of how cool it was performing at this years Savannah Urban Arts Festival: 2 gigs same night, meeting Polo and the work his organization (AWOL) is doing with the inner city youth there, the positive feedback, rocking sets and shooting a new video with Woodstock in front of the "Before I Die" art project...yeah all of that, and then some. In the end, I thought this video summed it up best, words just couldn't do it. Sometimes it be like that. Thank God for Youtube ;)

Peace Fam!

It's been a few weeks since my last post. Things are in motion, shortly after releasing the video Boombastic (which is getting a lot of hits btw - thanks for the love y'all!! Be sure to get your free copy of Boombastic here too: http://s-o-u-l.bandcamp.com/track/boombastic) I found out I'll be playing two gigs on the same night at the 2012 Savannah Urban Arts Festival in Savannah Georgia - April 17th to be exact! If that wasn't dope, fresh, kick a$$ and ecstatic enough, I'll be rockin it with Woodstock on the MPC. As many of you know Woodstock has been instrumental in producing a few songs off of the album and shooting/producing a bunch of my videos - the latest of which is Boombastic. Prepping for this show, along with promoting, along with the everyday grind has kept my plate full, but great none the less! I've always enjoyed my visits to Georgia - mostly in Atlanta, and this will be the first time in Savannah, so I'm looking forward to it!

All of y'all in the Savannah Georgia area please come out on April 17th and party with myself and Woodstock! Showtimes are the following: 8pm at Muse Arts Warehouse (703-D Louisville R.Savannah, GA) and 11:30 pm at The Jinx (127 W. Congress St. Savannah, GA)

4 Days Till The New Video Drops! - March 6th

The third video to be released off of my album The Unspoken Word is Boombastic. What has to have been one of the most challenging songs off of this record, was also one of the most rewarding songs. Produced by Woodstock (from the group Crown City Rockers ) who also directed the video (the 3^rd in a series shot entirely on his iPhone 3G – yeah his iPhone!!), this track had me sweating from its intensity, and all that I wanted to pour into it. I believe I wrote at least 20 different versions of verses for Boombastic, along with at least as many studio sessions. There was the occasional perfectionism that crept in, to the "Oh $hit, I got an idea for the 2^nd verse, let's record!" all the way to simple mood of the delivery I was trying to achieve. Honestly speaking, I couldn't have completed it without the patience and encouragement of Woodstock! For real, the cat had to have been thinking "WTF! You want to do another take? Session?" but the vibe was always positive. When it was nailed down, we both knew it was right...

When it came time to shoot the video, I really didn't have any ideas for it. Then Woodstock let loose the creative visions he was having and vintage boomboxes, reel to reel tapes, cassettes and green screens appeared! We even brought back the lab coat dude from the album promo video (a personal favorite of mine btw). I'm still amazed at how much we were able to do with a iPhone 3Gs, vintage audio material and old fashioned creativity! The video drops on March 6^th and I can't wait to share it with ya! Peace!!

...and we're bringing the doctor labcoat guy back!

As you may recall, this alter ego of mine first showed up in the album promo video below (shot by Woodstock on his iPhone!). I always heard that commercials would put people in labcoats because psychologically people believe them to be experts, all from the color of their jacket (lol! funny and f^cked up at the same time!)

Here he goes the first time, but stay tuned for the new video coming out on March 6th 2012!!!
